MOOD VISUALISATION

This project is a visual representation of my habits I tracked for 7 days. There are certain things we do or think about repeatedly without any intention. But it simply happens! I noted that I have been under a lot of stress and had mood swings during these days. To self evaluate your mental health and mental well-being, it is very much important to have a break in your life and then do self intropection of your thoughts, activities and the quality of time spent. This assignment made me realise my status of mind, so I wanted to adress a message that mental well-being is really important, having positive thoughts - regulates good hormones which results in good health.

DESIGN PROCESS

I jotted down my thoughts and ideas on a piece of paper and noted to track these activities for a week. Using the setTimeout function, I managed to make small animation. Also used JSON file to code my work, which made it easy. 1. Family Interaction - I started to note the number of hours I spent with my family watching movies, discussing about the future or other family discussions. I consider that giving time to the family is very important. The symbol that depicts my interaction with family is represented in the form of an 'EYE'.
2. Calls with Boyfriend - I use phone call to interact with my boyfriend many times a day but noticing that dure to several reasons the graph was irregular. The candle shaped symbol represents - cheerfulness. It lits me up when I have a healthy conversation with my boyfriend. The happy times represents each candle whenever I call him.
3. Family Thoughts - I think alot about my family, during the week I tracked down my activites. My brother was going back abroad for his work. So, me and my family we spent good time together. I was stressed due to my studies and thinking about my future due to which I had mood swings.
4. Future Thoughts - The uncertainty occurred due to the pandemic, lead me thinking too much about my future. Virtual learning has been difficult but, near to the end. Future, is looking forward, the ladder visible on each day of animation is multiplication of my thoughts about future.
5. Silent Prayers - Usually I meditate once and do prayers several times for a few minutes in a day. I calculate this in my timetable to be productive, showing gratitude and being thankul to God and everyone is one thing that should persist. Due to materialism in the world around us, we may forget to thank god for giving us life and purpose to live on earth.
6. Meeting my Guru - I attended a spiritual workshop during the week once, usually happens everyweek. The workshop is about learning different meditations. I start my prayers with 'OM', for which I have put an image of 'OM' in my data visualisation. 7. Badminton - I play badminton every evening with my famiy which allows me to destress from work. Badminton is a good physcial activity so I play once, every day for 40-60 minutes. Badminton is represented in a simple geometric shape with a rectangle and an ellipse attached to it. 8. Relationship Thoughts - I noticed that my relationship had impacts on my activities and vice versa. The relationship and personal life should be kept separate. Balance of life is very important. The symbol represented for relationship thought is in the form of heart shape.

REFLECTION

By tracking my activities for seven days, I noticed that the change in my behaviour. I started to do silent sitting more often as I could, spent good time with my family. I can relate to the chapter I read about Data Visualisation of Emotion & Embodiment. I can reflect back to the reading, which talks about the data being registed into our subconscious mind if its visually appealing. This project made me realise, the number of hours I spent with my family, my productivity and responsibilities towards my relationship, mental or physical health and future. These 8 data points for 7 days is turned into small animation. I want to explore more and create different animations of these elements.
